About

dale guy madison is a damn good man. It is not only a catch phrase; it is my mission in life. damn good man productions is a business venture of dale guy madison created to produce entertainment and educational events that address artistic, literary, cinematic, cultural, & gender based empowering messages. The goal of every project is to be damn good.

Dale Guy Madison knew he was a performer since his first grade appearance in “Jimmy and the Sleep Fairies.” Dale has spent most of his life entertaining and educating audiences.

In 1989 Dale co-founded a non-profit educational theater company called Umoja SaSa! Storytellers. The traveling theater company’s mission was dedicated to the preservation of African storytelling. As an oral historian, Dale wrote and adapted classic and original tales into vivid performances that left children as well as adults spellbound. As co-founder of Actors Against Drugs, Dale not only performed, but acted as Publicity Director and Costume Designer.

Dale received his first on screen film credit on the original 1988 John Waters movie, Hairspray.

As one of the original hosts of the QVC Fashion Channel, Dale produced and hosted the first ever African themed shopping show, Destination: Africa and interviewed an African Princess in 1993

The Baltimore City Health department asked him to be project manager of the Men of Color Against Aids Project in 1995. As project manger, one of his duties was to publish a monthly newsletter, Men of Color TALK where he was also editor. He wrote a monthly column that dealt with subjects such as creative ways to have safe sex and the importance of HIV testing. A highlight of that experience was writing, directing and producing a public service announcement starring then mayor, Kurt Smoke and a cast of gay men.

Dale was recognized by the Maryland State Arts Council for his one man show, FREEda Slave: Mask of a Diva, which addressed issues of cross dressing and intra-discrimination in the gay community. He won a play writing award (1999) and a solo-performance award (1996) grant.

A 2006 Zami/Audre Lorde Scholar, Dale spent most of 2007 performing his brand of spoken word at Long Beach Pride, San Diego Pride, Los Angeles Pride (ATB), West Hollywood Book Fair and Sabor Con Fusion while working on his teaching degree. He just finished his memoirs and produced a documentary on it entitled DREAMBOY: My Life as a QVC Host and other greatest hits. It was awarded “Best LGBT film at the 2008 San Diego Black Film Festival.
